The Voice Behind Clean Time: Andy's Story
Andy, host of the Clean Time Podcast, guides raw and honest conversations about recovery with a voice shaped by hard-won experience. His journey is a testament to the power of transformation and the profound impact of choosing to heal.
For seven years, addiction defined Andy’s existence. It began innocuously with a painkiller prescription for a broken and dislocated shoulder in 2015. After four years, to escape the hell of withdrawal, he turned to meth, only to find a new, more violent reality. Life became a blur of paranoia and survival; he was a constant target for robbery, was stabbed in the jaw by a stranger, and battled crippling anxiety. As the violence around him tragically claimed the lives of others and jail time became more frequent, the peril of his life reached an undeniable breaking point.
On Mother's Day 2022, Andy made the life-altering decision to get help. He had already put distance between himself and his past by moving in with his cousin, but this was the moment of total surrender and commitment. An unlikely door opened: the girl he was seeing, who was at 90210 Recovery in Beverly Hills, insisted they fly him there. He had no insurance, no way to pay. After she completed her stay and left, ultimately relapsing, Andy chose to stay. The staff, who had never seen someone remain after their partner departed, recognized his extraordinary will to live differently and allowed him to continue his treatment.
This act of faith was met with unwavering dedication. Andy completed 21 days in inpatient care, followed by sober living and a grueling five-month, 40-hour-a-week outpatient program. The therapy, he explains, helped him address the underlying issues that fueled his addiction, fundamentally reprogramming him to be a "better person." In his own words, rehab "provided way more for me than I ever could have hoped."
One of his biggest challenges was severing ties with the dangerous relationship that had so often pulled him back under. His freedom was hard-won, and on June 17, 2022, he marked his official clean date—a beacon of his new life.
Now, with the Clean Time Podcast, Andy is dedicated to sharing the knowledge that saved him. He aims to inspire hope, reminding listeners that they have inherent value, deserve to be surrounded by positive people, and, most importantly, have a right to a safe and fulfilling life in recovery.
